Ninth Annual San Francisco SuperMeet

February 5th, 2010

Last night’s SF Photoshop Meetup was really interesting.  A great presentation from Marine Leroux of Bambou Design on designing iPhone applications using Photoshop.

Today, I’ll be taking a couple of the free workshops that are part of this year’s FCPUG SuperMeet.  Should be a fun but very long day!

Ninth Annual San Francisco SuperMeet.

People, Places, and Things

January 25th, 2010

Wednesday night’s MoPictive meeting was amazing. Our short was shown on Blu-Ray and it looked great. I’m especially happy that it was so well received by an audience of our peers. Oh, and then there’s that magic little box that David won in the raffle – we’re now waiting for our AJA KiPro. :) That will complement our EX-1 nicely.

I’m off to San Francisco for a few weeks. You’ll be able to find me at the SFCutters, the SF Photoshop Meetup, and this year’s FCPUG SuperMeet. I’m actually thinking of skipping MacWorld this year… O_o

And the first season of FenceSitter Films “Rose By Any Other Name” is almost done. You can watch Episode 10 right now. More later, from the Left Coast…

Sold Out!

January 19th, 2010

Wow. The MoPictive meeting tomorrow night is completely full! So if you didn’t get a ticket, you won’t be able to see the sneak peek of “L’Accordatore”. I guess you’ll just have to wait until we show up at a festival or two (or more!).

I’m really excited to hear everyone’s reactions to our little film. It’s a stunner, if I do say so myself. Both David and I will be there, at the Helen Mills Theatre along with the director and two of the producers to answer questions after the showing. See you there!

L’Accordatore preview screening in NYC

January 11th, 2010

The first preview screening of our short film will be January 20th, 2010, as part of the January meeting of The Moving Pictures Collective NYC.
Full details and tickets for the meeting at the Helen Mills Screening Room are available here:
http://www.mopictive.org/2010/01/04/january-20-dslr-filmmaking/

At the moment, we’re in consideration at quite a few film festivals, and David and I are cautiously hopeful that we’ll have news of a premiere soon.

L’Accordatore Update

December 27th, 2009

As we reach the end of 2009, just a short update on our latest project.  L’Accordatore now has its own listing on IMDB, and we’re in consideration for several festivals including RIIFF 2010 and GEN ART, here in NY.

What was our short “Fly Fishing in Russia” has now morphed and evolved – in 2010, we have plans to shoot a full 1hr drama pilot based on the series of short stories that Fly Fishing was pulled from.

And if you haven’t kept up with it: The web series from FenceSitter Films, Rose By Any Other Name, has just released it’s 8th episode.

From David and myself, we wish you a Happy Holidays and a brilliant New Year!

L’Accordatore Production Diary

December 10th, 2009

LAccordatore The Tuner Production Diary.

Here’s a link to the production blog for the short film that we just finished, it’s now going out for consideration to festivals.  We should have our IMDB listing in the next few weeks as we’re being considered for inclusion by the Rhode Island International Film Festival.

I’m really proud of the work we did, not only the compositing, but the color grade as well.  This was the first project where I’ve had 4k RED footage to play with!   Final color grading was done in AfterEffects CS4 at 4K in 32-bit float using a combination of standard tools and Magic Bullet Colorista.  Final render was 1080/24p in ProRes 422HQ.  Finishing for DVD and other media is being done by our friends at FINI in NYC.

Rose By Any Other Name on AfterEllen.com

November 13th, 2009

Actress Stephanie Riebel says shes falling for a woman for the first time | AfterEllen.com.

This may not seem like news that belongs on our production blog, but it actually fits in a couple of ways.  The first being that I used to write for AfterEllen.com in the early days of the website.   And secondly, Stephanie is the star of web series Rose By Any Other Name which features opening title visuals by HDR-VFX.

AfterEllen.com has a huge audience, this is great exposure for the series.

Showdown of the Godz: A Monsterous Comedy With Heart

November 5th, 2009

Showdown of the Godz: A Monsterous Comedy With Heart.

…is a short that we worked on a couple years ago, it’s very silly, very fun, and a must see if you like Godzilla flicks, George Takei, or vaguely resemble a totally obsessed sci-fi geek.  It’s now available on DVD and streaming-on-demand.

This episode had me giggling like a fool at my desk.  Very funny, over the top, and all too true!
